Buds of spring

The fragility of apricots' paper-thin blossoms belies the tremendous scent they emit. If Mother Nature cooperates and keeps gusty winds or rainy downpours at bay, the glorious smell can be enjoyed for almost two weeks.

Should typical spring weather prevail a shower of blossoms swirl like gypsy moths or snowflakes in a blizzard. What remains are cherry red colored buds in a cone shape.  In time it will develop into a golden fleshed morsel of sweetness.

What else can be expected from something that begins life so beautifully?
