It is a sight that never fails to let loose a small bubble of excitement.
Whether a few days or weeks after I have poked a hole into earth and placed a seed into it a bit of green appears. Months before any harvest begins for a brief moment I taste a tomato's tartness and a bit of salt on a cool cucumber slice.
I know the odds of this thin verdant string loosely rooted to the ground might never make it to my plate in July and August - but April's hope always outways the odds.
